Call No. 5: CHANGE
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 2ND!
It’s the season of change here in Blacksburg; from the leadership of the country to the new semester, to the new craft editors here at The Pylon, the world is in constant flux. We want to hear what you have to say about change. Got a song that’ll change rock and roll forever? A story about Kanye’s 2020 presidential campaign? A photograph that captures modern race relations in time for Black History Month? We want it all, anything and everything that shows your take or perspective on the concept of CHANGE is fair game. We look forward to hearing from you!
We want music, video, visual, or creative writing (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction) pieces that work with the theme of CHANGE. Each artist may only submit one piece, unless they have a combination of pieces in different mediums that go together (for example, a written word piece may be accompanied by artwork that was designed to go with the piece). Restrictions are as follows:
- Individual songs (4 minutes or less) should be submitted via Soundcloud link.
- Individual videos (ten minutes or less) should be submitted via YouTube link.
- Written word pieces must be carefully proofread, no longer than ten pages when single-spaced, and submitted as an editable (e.g. Microsoft Word, Pages) document.
- Visual pieces should be uploaded to an image hosting site (preferred) or attached to the submission email as a file. Please take care to ensure the scan or photograph of the visual work is of the highest quality possible.
Anyone from the Blacksburg area can submit! Submissions are open now until Friday, March 3rd, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Send your work and/or questions to email@example.com.
Note: If you have submitted your work elsewhere or it has been accepted to other literary or arts journals, please inform us in your email and check their guidelines to be sure you can have your work published online for The Pylon. Certain journals have copyright claims to your work when you submit, even if it has not yet been accepted or rejected, and if this is the case, try submitting something new! The Pylon does not claim copyright on your work.
The Pylon is Blacksburg’s newest digital publication that specializes in submission-based creative works, investigative and longform pieces, and informed commentary. We are an independent publication that covers local stories and provides an outlet for alternative voices with quality in mind.
