A selection from our “Isolation” call for submissions.

Matt Baker feels most creative in isolation—specifically, “anywhere away from people and man-made infrastructure.” As a meteorology major at Virginia Tech, his appreciation of the the natural world is expressed through photography. He especially likes to capture the earth at its most raw moments. His featured piece, Tranquil Dissolution, was taken in the summer at Mountain Lake, when “the ceiling was low so the entire mountain was foggy.” He recommends the landscape photography work of Peter Lik to readers of The Pylon.
