With springtime here and summer fast approaching, many of the popular restaurants around Blacksburg are opening up their patios for the season. With that in mind, we’ve mapped the various patio dining options in town, as well as drink and food specials that students and locals alike have come to enjoy at each spot. Check out our interactive map to plan your next trip downtown. Did we miss your favorite spot? Let us know!

Rising Silo Brewery
2351 Glade Rd, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(410) 596-1200

It’s off the beaten path, but the trip is worth it. Rising Silo Brewery offers a rotating menu of beers crafted on site. The taproom has limited hours, so be sure to check the website before you head out.

622 North
622 N Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 951-1022

622 North features a raised wooden deck overlooking Main Street. It is a fantastic place to meet up with a group of friends and chat. Known for their wine bar and flights, they also boast an extensive scotch selection served traditionally on chunked ice.

Blacksburg Taphouse
607 N Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 552-3023

Blacksburg Taphouse has higher price points than some other outdoor dining options, but it’s worth the price. They have a great selection of craft beers and feature an awesome Charcuterie board appetizer. This is a great place to take a date or celebrate with a small party. For students with parents visiting Blacksburg, see if you can convince them to take you to the Taphouse while they’re in town! Enjoy a specialty cocktail or a cigar in their upstairs lounge while you celebrate the end of the semester.

PK’s Bar and Grill
432 N Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 552-3278

PK’s takeout is a mainstay in Blacksburg, but many skip eating in the restaurant. Even people who have eaten in often don’t realize that PK’s has a spacious back patio, which is perfect for spring and summer evenings. Try their 5-inch personal pita pizzas and enjoy one of their various drafts or speciality shooters. They host American Poolplayers Association events on their regulation-sized pool tables.

Ceritano’s Ristorante
428 N Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 443-9135

You may have been to Ceritano’s before for a date, party, or a show, but have you stopped by for lunch on their patio? They boast about a half dozen tables on Main Street that offer a beautiful view of Alumni Mall and the Moss Arts Center, along with great opportunities for people watching. Their authentic brick oven pizza is some of the best in Blacksburg.

Souvlaki
201 College Ave, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 951-0555

A lunchtime and late night favorite, Souvlaki is right across the street from campus and offers Greek specialties and other takeaway fare at very reasonable prices. Seating on College Avenue offers a relaxed outdoor environment in the afternoon.

Top of the Stairs
217 College Ave, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 953-2837

Top of the Stairs is a student staple in Blacksburg. Lovingly known as TOTS, it appears regularly in lists of the best college bars in the United States. Mostly comprised of patio, TOTS features outdoor bars, space for cornhole, and the most photographed Tech flag in Blacksburg. They are well known for their barbecue and are opening up a separate storefront focusing on food in a more low-key environment. It is almost mandatory to order their signature “Rail” when you go to TOTS, but be warned: You will want to pace yourself.

Sharkey’s
220 N Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 552-2030

Sharkey’s has a back patio year-round but also sets up some additional seating facing Main Street during the warmer months. On Mondays, they offer a two-for-one burger special—you can get two right on the spot or a voucher for a burger of equal or lesser value during your next visit. Sharkey’s is a student favorite for happy hour in the evening, but it also offers a great atmosphere. During the summer months, the patio is a very comfortable spot.

Boudreaux’s
205 N Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 961-2330

Boudreaux’s boasts the only rooftop bar in Blacksburg. Order some gator bites from its Cajun-inspired menu and have a few beers with friends while overlooking the heart of Main Street and downtown Blacksburg. While it’s the smallest restaurant on our list, the rooftop dining makes it a unique spot. Visit on Tuesday for a discount on signature Hurricanes during happy hour.

Mellow Mushroom
207 S Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 605-7074

While it is a chain pizzeria, Mellow Mushroom prides itself on eccentric design, and its Blacksburg shop is one of the quirkier restaurants in town. With its industrial bohemian design, gourmet sourdough pizza, and a massive draft beer selection, they definitely offer a memorable experience. They also have a large outdoor seating area with tables facing Main Street. Heaters are available on chillier spring evenings.

Social House
103 S Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 951-7646

Tucked inside a renovated historic Main Street property, Social House offers original fare in a friendly setting. They serve a wonderful brunch, while their regular menu focuses on Asian fusion cuisine. They also have a large selection of wines to choose from.

Cabo Fish Taco
117 S Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 552-0950

Like the name suggests, Cabo Fish Taco specializes in tacos, especially seafood themed ones. On Tuesdays, you can join their club and get discounted tacos and tequila shots. With one of the most extensive tequila lists in the state of Virginia and a creative margarita menu, you’re sure to find something you’ll like. Their patio includes some space heaters, so if it is a brisk night you can still enjoy some fish tacos and a drink.

Lefty’s
1410 S Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 552-7000

Lefty’s just moved locations, and they opened a small brewery in the process! While the location is a bit different, the familiar food hasn’t changed. Stop in for a sandwich, and take home a crowler or growler of beer brewed by Right Mind brewery on site.

Our Daily Bread
1329 S Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060
(540) 953-2815

While most of the spots on our list serve lunch and dinner, Our Daily Bread specializes in breakfast and brunch as well as baked goods. They have live music some mornings and offer some of the finest sweets in Blacksburg.

This story was updated to clarify that the two-for-one burger special at Sharkey’s is for two burgers for the price of one at the same time or one burger and a voucher for a burger of equal or lesser value at a later date.
